Love it!
Just came across this podcast and am addicted! Such great stories and storyteller. Hope there are many more episodes to come!
Warm fuzzies
Season 1, Ep 2. Dear Tod, thank you so much for the quiet nod to Stuart… it brightened my tears to my eyes.
A Canadian Gem
Tod has done it again! This is yet another place he has created that I can go to for serenity, hope, some chuckles, and an insider’s view of small town Canadiana. IYKYK.
Delightful
A delightful listen. Cheerful, calming, and so Canadian. I could listen to Tod’s voice for hours. I grew up listening to Stuart McLean over breakfast with my Dad every weekend; the nod to the Vinyl Cafe made me tear up. Will keep coming back for more.
Canadian Storyteller
Your Canadian content, pace and humour put me in mind of Stuart Maclean and Peter Gzowski. Love this! Keep going. Thank you for your work.
Episode 2
Loved the subtle homage to Stuart McLean.
A great listen!
My husband and I are often looking for something to listen to on car trips and this is a perfect fit. Quirky, funny and best of all, Canadian. I was lol listening to it. For real!
As Canadian as….
Thanks Tod.I needed this.Comparison to other shows are unnecessary. This one holds its own. The same way other great series on CBC have done. Quiet, thoughtful, funny and unabashedly Canadian.I will be waiting impatiently for season two.Best of luck with your Nanaimo Infusion and continued success in drawing into Canada the many talented and kind healthcare workers we so desperately need. This is a great additional chapter in our shared heritage.Menno
Lower the music volume
♥️♥️♥️Love it but have one request. Please tune down the music that is background to your talking. It’s difficult for hearing impaired people - I really have to stretch to focus and separate your words from the music. It is too loud and distracting. I breathe a sigh of relief when the music stops.
Gentle storytelling when we need it!
Loving this small town story, having grown up in small town Canada, it’s so relatable!

Tod has a gift for storytelling. My only complaint is that the episodes are not longer.
Thanks!
Thoroughly enjoying 👏
I came for his voice, I stayed for the story
I’ve been following Tod on instagram for awhile now and reading his newsletters because he’s a source of calm and optimism in this crazy world we happen to find ourselves living in. So glad I saved several episodes to binge cause Mirror Falls is definitely worth it. Thank you Tod from one Vancouver Islander to another.
Ahhhhh!
Love these stories!! I find them relaxing which is needed at this time. Thank you!!
Fills me up
Tod Maffin’s storytelling is exactly what I need right now. If you enjoyed The Vinyl Cafe this is a wonderful companion series. But it’s not a copy, Tod Maffin’s Mirror Falls has its own unique charm. He captures the spirit of what it means to be Canadian - kindness, openness and a dash of quirkiness. We can laugh at ourselves even while fiercely standing up for what’s decent and right. Grab a beer, double double or cup of tea and enjoy this slice of joy.
So good!!
I don’t think I’ve been this happy and moved and invested in storytelling since I listened to vinyl Café.This is amazing. I am loving every episode. Can’t wait for more.

Hi! I’ve always been a huge Vinyl Cafe fan and this definitely tips it’s hat to it! I love it, and I hope that Canada falls for it too!❤️
Beautifully written and funny
These are short and poignant stories of a small town, told with kindness and humour. Thank you Tod.
Story telling at its best
Love these stories. Tod has a delightful way of drawing you in to the stories of Mirror Falls. Population 400? So that means at least 400 episodes? I sincerely hope!
Funny, and endearing
With the timbre of Tod’s voice, the cadence of the story, the humour, and the little nuggets sprinkled throughout, a totally enjoyable series! If you enjoyed The Vinyl Cafe, you’ll like this!!
Unexpected comfort
Tod is remarkably gifted in knowing what is relevant and has been blessed with the ability to articulate perfectly what happens in small towns. I live in a small town of two hundred people (when everyone is home), and I know a version of everyone depicted in Mirror Falls. I have laughed out loud and finished the first two episodes feeling comforted and seen. Thank you!
Such a fun listen
Just what is needed in this time. A sweet, kind, fun and funny podcast. Hosted by the always enjoyable and witty Tod Martin. Can’t wait for more episodes
Feel-good Canadiana for 2026
The comparisons to Vinyl Cafe will be inevitable; I can’t comment at length on this similarity as I was too young to catch a ton of the original works of St. Stuart. What I can say is that this podcast is a cosy, hilarious, moving and beautiful meditation on small town Canadian life. Todd Maffin is awesome!
The Best
Thoughtful, funny and insightful. Storytelling at its best Do yourself a favour and give a listen to a few episodes. Trust me…. You’ll be hooked - in the best of ways…
