Episode 2. So funny!
As a public administrator and grant writer in a small Municipality, I appreciated the main character and the situation poised in the second episode. Yes grant writing is like that. So funny I shared with family while commuting.
A new Canadian podcast!
OK, I’m intrigued. 😊 I love stories that build slowly and provide delectable little tidbits giving insight into the characters and how they tick. Mr. Maffin is an excellent narrator. I believe that this, people, is going to be a fun ride. Bring on Ep.3 šŸ‘P.s. loved that little shout out in Ep. 2 to you-know-who (no spoilers) šŸ¤—.
Like coming home
Gotta love gentle Canadian humour. Thanks Tod. Looking forward to many years, and be sure I will be spreading the word.
šŸŽ™ļøSibilance
As usual, I put on my CPAP, queued up a podcast, and closed my eyes for a good night's rest.Everything was going perfectly... right up until the "microphone check" story. I laughed so hard I blew the CPAP mask clean off my face. So now I'm wide awake, writing this review instead of sleeping, but honestly, the belly laugh was worth it. Thanks, Tod.
Exactly what’s needed
Like a warm cup of tea by the fire during an icy blizzard, Mirror Falls is exactly what’s needed right now. A chuckle, some small town quirkiness, and a little kindness. Thank you Tod!
Captivating
Tod has a way of telling stories that captivates your mind. I look forward to listening more and let my imagination fly along.
The Best Kind of Storytelling
There was no time of the week more sacrosanct in my life than the hour of The Vinyl Cafe. I have now heard something that tugs at my heart and my funny bone in the same way. When I am asked, as I am more and more these days living in the U.S., what makes Canadians so different from Americans, I have Tad Maffin and Mirror Falls to point to. Not exclusively! but definitely. The very best with this new adventure Mr Maffin.PS Thanks for the shout out to Dave & Morley and Sam and StephaniešŸ˜‰
Makes my heart smile
Todd and Mirror Falls fills the void left by Stewart and vinyl cafƩ. Appreciated the nod to Stewart and his stories. Looking forward to getting to know the people of Mirror Falls
The Legion
This reminds me of listening to my dad and a couple of his buddies telling tall tales when they’re sitting at the Legion, This such a blend of Canadian and quirkiness. I’m looking forward to the next episodes.
Beautiful falls. Don’t miss.
Well told, lovely little stories about Vancouver Island’s rustic charm. These are exactly what we need right now. Spread the word.
Wonderfully Spicy Nostalgia
Just enough colourful language reminding us in our late 50s that our country, from villages to cities, is Sofa King much better than the meth apparent downstairs
Mirror Falls review
I have enjoyed Todd's Magfins "far and wide "newsletter, but how luxurious and entertaining to listen to this non-political podcast that is reminiscent of vinyl cafe. Looking forward to the next episode and while I wait, I'm going to share. Thanks Todd
I’m hooked!
Such an intriguing podcast! It’s beautifully written and the audio design is perfect - adds to the experience without being overwhelming. I love that the episodes are short enough to listen to without too much time commitment, but also kind of wish they were longer because I want more! I can’t wait to listen to the whole season.
OTR Lives!!
As a lover of old time radio programs, this fits the bill. Is well done, and well told. After all, who doesn’t like being told a story and this is right in our own backyard … even though I’m a mainlander.
A refuge
In a world gone crazy, these podcasts are a refuge. A few minutes of good storytelling pleasure, a chance to slow down and breathe. And smile, and laugh.
Can’t wait for more!
Listened to the first episodes with that dumb smile on my face, thinking how great storytelling is art. It’s left me with the feeling like listening to Stuart MacLean did with The Vinyl Cafe. Thank you, Todd. Keep them coming!
What the World Needs Now
Mirror Falls , it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of - keep it going !!
Can’t wait for more!
Stumbled across this podcast, and while only a couple episodes in, I am already looking forward eagerly to hear more. If you grew uplistening to such great Canadian content as The Vinyl Cafe, or Wingfield farms, I think you’ll also appreciate this podcast.
I have Questions
When does the mirror fall, and is there more than one mirror or does the same mirror keep falling?
I had no idea…
...how much I’d enjoy listening to these podcasts. It deserves to be successful if only for the ā€˜common touch’ that makes it so special. I look forward to what comes next, eh.
Canadiana at it’s best!
The story, the music, and the Canadian vibe is just what we need in these unprecedented times.
Mirror Falls Delivers
Tod Maffin joins the ranks of solid Canadian story tellers in the company of the likes of Leacock and McLean. Very satisfying experience!
I want to visit!
As a born and raised native of Vancouver Island, I want to visit Mirror Falls. If it were a real place, I would go there on my summer holiday this year. As it is, all I can say is, keep up the good work! I love it so far!
Small town Canada on record
Distinctly captivating and so very Canadian. Like a cross between Stuart McLean and Johnny Harris, ā€œthe Vinyl Cafe Still Standingā€ if you will. Bravo Tod
