Listener Reviews

Can’t wait for more!
Stumbled across this podcast, and while only a couple episodes in, I am already looking forward eagerly to hear more. If you grew up listening to such great Canadian content as The Vinyl Cafe, or Wingfield farms, I think you’ll also appreciate this podcast.
I have Questions
When does the mirror fall, and is there more than one mirror or does the same mirror keep falling?
I had no idea…
...how much I’d enjoy listening to these podcasts. It deserves to be successful if only for the ‘common touch’ that makes it so special. I look forward to what comes next, eh.
Canadiana at it’s best!
The story, the music, and the Canadian vibe is just what we need in these unprecedented times.
Mirror Falls Delivers
Tod Maffin joins the ranks of solid Canadian story tellers in the company of the likes of Leacock and McLean. Very satisfying experience!
I want to visit!
As a born and raised native of Vancouver Island, I want to visit Mirror Falls. If it were a real place, I would go there on my summer holiday this year. As it is, all I can say is, keep up the good work! I love it so far!
Small town Canada on record
Distinctly captivating and so very Canadian. Like a cross between Stuart McLean and Johnny Harris, “the Vinyl Cafe Still Standing” if you will. Bravo Tod
Cozy & Funny
Tod Maffin’s gently hilarious, fictional town of Mirror Falls is exactly the break I needed from doomscrolling! I miss Vinyl Cafe and the heyday of CBC daytime radio, so this was perfect! I can’t wait for more episodes and getting to know the town characters even more.
Beautiful Mirror Falls!
I’m disappointed I found this pod cast too soon! I don’t want to wait a week for the next episode to drop 🤣😍
Brilliant
Delightful tale narrated by the new Stuart McLean. Can’t wait to hear what is coming. Congratulations Tod. I think you have a huge success on your hand!
As delightful as Tod
All the humour and wit of Tod, with the charm and quirk of small town life. Loving this podcast already. My only complaint is the episodes are too short. ;-)
Well done!
Love the writing and music.
Canada captured (in a good way)
I listened to this on my drive in this morning and I loved it. It was a great story and really captured the essence of Canadian Culture. Well worth a listen.
Bravo! I’ll have another please….
If you liked the Vinyl Cafe or The Bachelor Brothers Bed & Breakfast books you are going to love this!
Great Story….superb narration!
Thanks for this new side of you Tod! I listened to the two episodes back to back, then listened again just in case I had missed anything. Loving the Vinyl Cafe vibes as you narrate the story…can’t wait for the next episodes to drop! ❣️❣️❣️ PS…do you ever sleep???
A Balm to the Soul
If you enjoy Vinyl Cafe, you will enjoy Mirror Falls. A wonderful place to escape to given what the real world is like these days. The world needs more Canada right now and this podcast is a place to find it. Lots of clever Easter Eggs hidden in the writing, Sam the Record man anyone? Loved the Peter Mansbridge “cameo”. I am excited to see where this story is going!
Love the first two episodes
I look forward to hearing about life in Mirror Falls. The music selection is perfect. Listening from Ontario 🇨🇦.
Delightful
So fantastically charming! Tod is an amazing and gifted story teller. I can’t wait for the next episode.
I’m not crying, you’re crying
Tod Maffin is undoubtedly a cultural icon at its birth. This is so extremely unique, and more small-town Canadian than anything I have ever heard. It’s a winning combo of the stories of real people living in a town that sounds fictional but isn’t, with humour and a real love of the subject. Dry sarcasm and Canadian self-effacing aw-shucks by, with a modern connection to past, present, people and places in history. I am reminded of a down-to earth Garrison Keillor, with a whiff of Robertson by Davies. Please Sir, can I have some more?
Mirror Falls Infusion
Count me in! I’m already in love with the town of Mirror Falls and you will be too. Created, written and manifested by journalist Tod Maffin, celebrant of all things Canadian, visionary and instigator of the Nanaimo Infusion (coming again in 2026!), Healthcare infusions, comical and informative reels across social media and one iconic music video - Mirror Falls is my weekly getaway.
A look into a mirror
What a delight to sit back and listen to a moment in our BC hidden history told with insight and humour! Todd takes us on a journey through time and place and leaves the listener feeling warmer, and prouder of our country and then people that a part of Canada. I can’t wait for the next episode of Mirror Falls.”
Bravo!
Enjoyed these first episodes and looking forward to the next. Looks like Mirror Falls may be destined to become as famous as Three Pines.
The Art of the Story
Reminiscent of Stuart Maclean but fresh and interesting. In sea of depressing political and self improvement podcasts good old fashioned story telling. Tod is a gift to Canadians.
What a gem
A worthy successor to The Vinyl Cafe. I think Stuart McLean would be pleased. I am delighted.
