Tod Maffin is undoubtedly a cultural icon at its birth. This is so extremely unique, and more small-town Canadian than anything I have ever heard. It’s a winning combo of the stories of real people living in a town that sounds fictional but isn’t, with humour and a real love of the subject. Dry sarcasm and Canadian self-effacing aw-shucks by, with a modern connection to past, present, people and places in history. I am reminded of a down-to earth Garrison Keillor, with a whiff of Robertson by Davies. Please Sir, can I have some more?

Reminiscent of Stuart Maclean but fresh and interesting. In sea of depressing political and self improvement podcasts good old fashioned story telling. Tod is a gift to Canadians.

As I was listening to the first episode, Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe kept coming to mind. Then once I heard the second episode, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Tod was thinking about him too! Keep up the great Canadian storytelling tradition!

Tod is an amazing storyteller. He draws you in quietly, conveying the essence of every day Canadiana. He shows us the small acts that highlight what makes us great without forgetting to add a hint of humble pie - because we are Canadian after all!

I’m thoroughly enjoying this new podcast steeped in the warmth and humour at the basis of every small Canadian community. It definitely reminds me of Robertson Davies beloved trilogies.

He will laugh at that! Easy to listen to , voice clear, music fun. I got some good laughs, and a feeling of nostalgia. This is the only Podcast I have ever listened to. Waiting for the next one with great anticipation. If you want a good time listen to Tod. Teedlelardie.

To be honest, I could listen to Todd Maffin talk about anything! Yet another positive thing he’s added to my otherwise horrible doom scrolling! Great series so far! Can’t wait to hear more.

Tod Maffin is the Canadian storyteller we’ve been waiting for. The people of Mirror Falls feel familiar and endearing, with stories that capture a quietly captivating, distinctly Canadian spirit. Grab a cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy!

As others have commented, there is a distinct similarity to The Vinyl Cafe. For no other reason than that Tod captures the essence of who we are as Canadians. For all of us who miss Stuart and for those who never had the pleasure of waiting eagerly for the next Vinyl Cafe broadcast. Tod is becoming will be Canada’s new go to after a week of stress and cynicism where we get to feel it all melt away in a refreshed appreciation of what it is to be human. Thank you Tod.
