Listener Reviews

So much fun!
I am really enjoying listening to this series. Todd has some sort of special magic that everything he touches turns to gold. This series is no exception. Can’t wait for new installments. Thank you Todd for all you do! 🥰
Easy entertaining listen
This is the first podcast series I have started listening to. I follow Tod on YouTube and enjoy his humor, style and sense of all things Canadian. Thank goodness he mentions a few times that this series is fiction, because his story telling is so convincing I want to keep pausing it to look things up & learn more. Keep up the amazing storytelling, and thank you for sharing your vision with the world.
Funny, interesting and well executed.
Very enjoyable! Keep them coming!
Mirror Falls?
Hmmm, fictional for sure, but it’s gotta be Port Alice. No, it’s Holberg. Or Walter’s Cove/Kyuquot. Or an amalgam. Fun. Two episodes listened to and not a single mention of rain: well done.
A much need bit of Canadiana in Tough Times
Entertaining with some learning to go along with it. Appreciates the quirkiness of small town life without demeaning it. Fills a part of the hole left in my heart by the loss of Stewart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe. Thank you from an east coast town of 500.
Sprinkling of Canadiana
Loved the little tidbits of subtle (and not so subtle) cultural references that make CBC listeners smile. A quiet, intriguing podcast.
Absolutely wonderful
I'm absolutely loving this series by Todd Maffin. Reminiscent of Vinyl Cafe (it even has little Easter egg references), it is filled with memorable characters that make me laugh. Todd Maffin's quirky wry amusement shines through every episode, but with kindness at its heart.
Great series for those who’ve loved Vinyl Café
I smiled so wide when Stephanie, Sam, and Big Narrows were referenced! But Mirror Falls has its own flavour, and I’m looking forward to more!
Delightfully Canadian
Wonderful storytelling with wit & intellect. Loved spending my Saturday night in Mirror Falls. More please.
Love it!
I’m enjoying this so much, please do more.
Easter eggs
Tod is a wonderful raconteur and to have another platform on which to hear his witty, warm and thoughtful words is most welcome. I really enjoy his sometimes-subtle-sometimes-not homages and references to iconic CBC shows, Canadian personalities and even his own wife. I can’t wait for the next episode to drop!
Mirror Falls is humorous and heartwarming
Thanks Tod, Mirror Falls is time well spent and embodies relentless decency
New beginnings
I love it! At 78 years old Tod has “forced” me to figure out how to find and listen to my very first podcast.
Small towns, big stories. Love it
Love what Tod Maffin is doing for Canada and Canadians. Some of our stories are smaller than others but all of them have big hearts, just like Canadians. Canadians are awesome and smart and brave and petty and amazing. I like Tod's voice and the way he makes me feel he's sitting across from me at my kitchen table. Thanks Tod
Quirky and Quaint
A delightful little listen. It’s every small town you’ve ever driven by. Tod has captured the vibe with his unique story telling. Looking forward to the other episodes.
As lovely as a hot cup of tea
Todd writes fiction, the way I write fiction, the way I think fiction is needed in these times; warm, gentle, a smile rather than a laugh. Fiction that, when you finish reading it or listening to it, you carry inside like a glowing ember to warm the rest of the day.
Lower the music volume
Love it but have one request. Please tune down the music that is background to your talking. It’s difficult for hearing impaired people - I really have to stretch to focus and separate your words from the music. It is too loud and distracting. I breathe a sigh of relief when the music stops.
Richest 15 minutes you’ll spend today
A little trip into a little world dense with wit and not to mention wisdom. A delight.
aint misbehavin
maybe a maureen-like review: prepareth: the theme music sounds like a Ain’t Misbehaving rip. the music in the 2nd episode with the female voice was wonderful wanted more. its good. its entertaining. merci.
Just what I need
Mirror Falls is like a warm Canadian hug. Just what I need right now.
Top notch!
First three episodes 💙
What a stunning falls!
Boy that falls is going to be stunning to see! :-p I am looking forward to all the stories about Mirror Falls. Tod’s is an outstanding writer storyteller and skillfully holds a mirror up to reminds us of who we are as Canadians. Thanks Tod and keep up the great work! —Update—Just finished episode two and wanted to shout for joy and express how eager I am to hear more of the podcast that may revive a vestige of the vinyl café. I love hearing about Maureen and her Civic Grant wiles, but what about Stephanie…you know the one from Big Narrows?? We Vinyl heads caught that and I’m sure we are all very eager to hear more about how Steph has been doing since… well you know, we miss Dave too.
We all need something to smile about!
I’ve been following Tod on Instagram and I subscribe to his newsletter. Love his style… he’s smart, funny, very knowledgeable… just downright Canadian likeable! I just finished episode 2 of Mirror Falls and I’m smiling! Loving the Characters, the stories… your delivery! Great job Tod, looking forward to episode 3!
Lovely storytelling!
Easy listening at it”s finest! I’m already getting to know some of the residents of Mirror Falls and looking forward to meeting them all!
