Beautiful
Lovely episode. Listened to it twice and cried both times.
Take Me Home
This series is takes me back and at the same time keeps me riveted in the present where life is happening. Looking forward to much more as I get to know all the people of, and visitors to, Mirror Falls. Great job
Bringing back good storytelling
A brilliant return to wholesome storytelling. Maffin has great pacing and fun music interspersed throughout.Bravo! Hope there’s more shenanigans in Mirror Falls!
Vancouver Island Classic
Stay with it by #3 you’ll be convinced.
Shades of Vinyl Cafe!
I am loving this podcast! It reminds me so much of the Vinyl Cafe and yet it has its own unique tone!
A moment of sanity
I am already hooked on this podcast. It takes me back to the days before the internet, listening to CBC Radio during long road trips. Tod is a fantastic writer and narrator. These episodes provide a peaceful break in a chaotic day.Gord from Ontario
Welcome to Mirror Falls
Exactly what we all need right now, a highly entertaining escape from the world right now. Go and listen.
Brilliant!
Trust Tod Maffin to create a truly Canadian world-class podcast. We’ve all heard of the “Midas Touch”—well, there’s a new kid in town. This one delivers The “Maffin Touch”—Gold Standard, A-List, Best in Show, Centre of Excellence. Everything Tod touches turns to gold. The essence of storytelling, the best example of a true Canadian, inclusive, kind, smart as a whip, erudite, and engaging with every word. Keep going, Tod! You’re exactly what we all need right now and into the future.
Light and lovely
Everything about this is a beautiful escape - such a wonderful diversion. Thank you so much Tod !
A delicious delight!
In a world full of daily dark news this is a beautiful escape for a few minutes, so full of warmth it sticks to your heart.
Fun!
I love the gentle, sometimes sharp, wry humour.
From Moncton
Tod has a story telling style that reminds me of the Vinyl Cafe, Love the stories and keeping an eye out for the next one. I’ll introduce it to my Day who is suffering from vision loss and Dementia but being a veteran he will love the Episode 3 for sure
My new favourite podcast
Great story! Your soundscape is fantastic.
Highly recommend
I recently came across Tod Maffin’s podcast and really enjoy his warm, witty storytelling and the way he blends history into his fiction. It makes listening a genuinely heartwarming experience.
Instantly Hooked
Love the style of podcast, humorous content, and relatable Canadian personalities shine through these characters.Todd Maffin is a wonderful narrator, with a comforting voice. I get the feeling he’s telling me this story personally not that I am listening to a podcast.
Good Canadian fun!
This podcast feels like what has been missing since the vinyl cafe stopped rolling. I LOVE that the stories are set here on Vancouver Island. I feel like I can picture the townsfolk’s faces while I listen to the stories. This is unique and captivating. Completely worth your time and worth a listen and I can’t wait to hear what comes next!
A town we all know
Absolutely delightful. Stories of an imaginary town we’ve all visited, or lived in, full of fictional people we all know, or who we might even be.
So much fun!
I am really enjoying listening to this series. Todd has some sort of special magic that everything he touches turns to gold. This series is no exception. Can’t wait for new installments. Thank you Todd for all you do! 🥰
Easy entertaining listen
This is the first podcast series I have started listening to. I follow Tod on YouTube and enjoy his humor, style and sense of all things Canadian. Thank goodness he mentions a few times that this series is fiction, because his story telling is so convincing I want to keep pausing it to look things up & learn more. Keep up the amazing storytelling, and thank you for sharing your vision with the world.
Funny, interesting and well executed.
Very enjoyable! Keep them coming!
Mirror Falls?
Hmmm, fictional for sure, but it’s gotta be Port Alice. No, it’s Holberg. Or Walter’s Cove/Kyuquot. Or an amalgam. Fun. Two episodes listened to and not a single mention of rain: well done.
A much need bit of Canadiana in Tough Times
Entertaining with some learning to go along with it. Appreciates the quirkiness of small town life without demeaning it. Fills a part of the hole left in my heart by the loss of Stewart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe. Thank you from an east coast town of 500.
Sprinkling of Canadiana
Loved the little tidbits of subtle (and not so subtle) cultural references that make CBC listeners smile. A quiet, intriguing podcast.
Absolutely wonderful
I'm absolutely loving this series by Todd Maffin. Reminiscent of Vinyl Cafe (it even has little Easter egg references), it is filled with memorable characters that make me laugh. Todd Maffin's quirky wry amusement shines through every episode, but with kindness at its heart.
